It is not much different from doing it online at the ATO website except that your online accountant takes just a few days to estimate what your return should be and then pays you straight away. They then have your tax return sent to them and so they are the ones who are waiting while you can go ahead and have some fun spending or saving, as the case may be.

Many people choose to use some of their tax refund to pay off more of their mortgage. It is amazing just how much interest you can save over the life of your loan when you make additional payments even if it is just once a year. You may not see the benefit of it immediately, but when you work it out it is really worthwhile doing.

However you may not want to use the whole amount to pay down debt. If you divide it up with some going to pay off bills or loans while some is used for fun then you get the best of both worlds and balance in your life.
