How To Get Website Back Into Google Search Engine Result Page

The recent search engine update has hurt a large number websites

. This search update is known as the Penguin Update. Like a large number previous updates, webmasters find their rankings dropping quickly. You may need been enjoying top rankings for a while, and then suddenly, you notice that traffic levels dropped by over 100%. You check the search results and immediately realize that your website is no longer sitting at the top! So what can you do to get the rankings back?

1) Recap your SEO efforts.

This is the first thing to do. Sit down quietly and recap your link building efforts. The latest update penalizes sites with dubious link building strategies. In other words, sites that are of poor quality may be linking back to your affected sites. Your goal is to find out who are linking back to you, and if possible, remove those links.

Inconveniently, this is easier said than done. After all, you dont own these sites and need zero control over them. So how are you going to get these links removed?

Here are a little possible ways.

2) Make a list of sites that link to you.

Always remember - you are after poor quality sites that link to you. That is to say, you must first identify these poor quality sites. These are probably sites with no original content. They are usually built just to make a quick buck with ads. So it's also likely that you will see a ton of unrelated links on these sites. Pay attention to the footer and sidebar. Are there any links in these areas? If there are links, are those paid links? You can easily tell when you see a bunch of links that are not related to one other.

3) Email webmasters politely to request for removal.

Here comes the hard part. You must now contact the webmaster to request for a removal. Use the contact page. If there is no contact info, try a WHOIS search and identify the domain owner. Then send an email to ask for the link removal.

Most webmasters will gladly remove your link when asked nicely. In any way, a little emails will go unanswered. When that happens, you can email them again and offer a small fee for removing the links. When you offer to pay, you increase the chances of a positive reply.

4) Clean up your own sites.

Ensure that your own site complies with Google's webmaster guidelines. It should be fast loading, filled with original content, and not too cluttered with advertisements.

Once if you need done all the above, your search rankings should rise naturally. If your site has been removed, you can always submit a re-inclusion request. It takes time for the site rankings to heal. So do be patient and repeat the above steps. And keep communicating with Google by submitting re-inclusion requests. Sooner or later, your persistence will pay off.
