How To Grow Roses From Clippings Using Various Methods To Plant Roses

People are now trying new ways on their gardens

, especially when it comes to roses. In fact, more growers now are learning how to grow roses from clippings. Many find it easier to plant roses this way; however, youll be surprised that there are also various methods in doing so.

Materials youll need for this gardening activity include a garden cutter, a few rose clippings, empty bottles or jars and pots as well as potting soil, mister and plastic ziplock bags.

Method 1 Just place it in the ground.

More growers just place their cutting in the ground. Then, they wait until they grow roses from clippings. However, this method is only good for places with milder climate and has fantastic soil.

Method 2 Using the Mason jar.

This is good for people who arent that experienced to grow roses from clippings. You only need two simple things for this particular method your rose clippings and a quart-sized clear jar. If theres not jar around, you can just cut the bottom portion of a 2 liter plastic bottle.

When getting rose clippings, these should be 6 inches long. Then, take the leaves by the bottom portion off. Next, put the stem in the ground or inside a pot that is filled with potting soil. Make sure you push it down about 2 inches or so. You can just leave the rest of the stem over the soil. Then, put the jar over the stem. Leave it.

Every now and then just water the dirt by the edges of the bottle. In a span of 2 months, youll notice the stem of your rose taking root and leafing out. At this time, you can already remove the jar.

This method is best done in the spring or early fall. You can also do this during the summer and the winter season when there is mild climate.

Method 3 Using sandwich bags.

Fill in 2-inch small potting pots with soil. Then, put the stem of the rose halfway in the soil. Next, place the pot in a 1 gallon plastic bag. Just keep the top of the bags from folding over. Should the bags fold over, air wont be able to circulate and the cuttings will rot.

Although this method is considered as the least successful, many are still trying it out.

Method 4 Misting.

Using a misting bench is another method to grow roses from clippings. You can keep this bench out in the open or you can set it up inside an enclosed greenhouse.

Another option is a misting box. It can either be a manual mister or an automatically timed variety.
