How To Have Luscious Lips
Lips talk, without saying a word
Lips talk, without saying a word. Our lips can convey so many messages with appearance alone, they are a window to our emotions, they can say happy, sad, sexy or cross. Lips are a focal point on our face, especially when we are about to kiss. Personal Stylist Annalisa Armitage gives us some tips on applying lipstick to get the most out of our lips.
Step 1 - Decide on the Impression You Want to Give
Before you even start thinking about lipstick, you need to think about the impression you want to give other people. If you want to have a natural look, you'll want lighter colours. If you want to create an impression of a bright smile, a darker lipstick provides greater contrast to your teeth. Do you want to look natural, brilliant, sexy, or startling?
Step 2 - Decide on the Right Colours
Choose lipstick colours that suit your skin tone. Dark colours will make your lips look smaller while lighter colours will make your lips look bigger. Different outfits and different occasions may require different coloured lipsticks. Match the lipstick to your clothes in tone and colour for a classy, finished look.
Step 3 - Decide on Matt or Shine
If you want your lips to look bigger and plumper, use a shiny finish lipstick. Matt lipsticks will make your lips appear smaller or thinner. A shiny finish will attract more attention, while a matt finish looks more natural on your lips.
Step 4 - Apply the Lip Liner
Choose a lip liner that matches the tone and colour of your lipstick. Follow the natural line of your lips around with the lip liner pencil. To make your lips look bigger trace the outside line of your lips. Colour in the whole of your lips, starting from the outside and working towards the centre. Many people believe that the lip liner just provides an outline to the lips, but by colouring in the entire lips with the lip liner, you can create a more even colour and base for the lipstick. In addition the colour lasts longer and you won't have to re-apply so often.
Step 5 - Apply the Lipstick
Apply the lipstick, once again following the natural line of your lips. Once applied wipe off the excess lipstick so you won't leave your lipstick on your cups or get inadvertent lipstick marks on your teeth. This is done by folding a tissue and placing it between your lips, pressing your lips firmly together.
Step 6 - Apply the Gloss
Finally, apply the lip-gloss. The lip-gloss helps to keep your lips moist. This should stop you from inadvertantly licking your lips, which will help to keep your lipstick on. Lip-gloss provides a smooth finish to your lips and prevents the lipstick from wearing off or fading too quickly.
Getting your lipstick right may take some practice, but it is not difficult once you have mastered it. You can learn the tricks of the makeup trade and make the most of your features to have beautiful lips every day.
