The thought of summer, the sun, and the beach sends in a different kind of excitement

. Come summer, we all look forward to taking a break from our daily routines and enjoying a getaway with our loved ones. Aside from getting a tan, riding the waves, and dancing under the moonlight, spruce up summer fun by learning something new "" hula.

To date, the origin of the hula dance remain unknown, even to the Hawaiians. But according to Polynesians, hula dance imitates how gods and goddesses dance. There exists two types of hula dances. First is the kahiko. Kahiko is the more ancient and ritualistic dance. Auana, on the other hand, is considered as the easier one and is the type of hula taught to tourists.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do the hula dance.

1.Keep your feet about four inches apart. Bend knees and put your hands together on your hips.

2.The hula dance follows a basic four-beat pattern. Step at least eight inches to your right with your right foot. Then, step your left foot to the right. Make another step with your right foot. Lastly, bring your left foot to the right before finally tapping the ground.

3.Sway your hips to the beat. When you step to the right, lower down your toe heel and lift your hips. Repeat the process using your left foot. Sway to the left, to the right and repeat this process over and over again.

4.Bend your left arm. Put your hand on the left side of your chest. With palms facing down, keep your fingers together. Now, position your right arm away from your body, at your shoulder level. Then, keep your elbows bent slightly with your fingers altogether and your palms, down.

5.For a more graceful effect, make it a point to look at your extended hand when you dance. Smile and use your eyes to tell the story of the goddesses.

The good news is that you can now do the hula dance inside your home, without a grass skirt, and even with the rain pouring outside. Beachtown is the newest Facebook gaming application.
