Unfortunately, the Final Cut Pro does not accept DVD movies. If you need to import a few scenes from DVDs to Final Cut Pro for editing, you have to encode your DVD movie to a Final-Cut-Procompatible file with a DVD to Final Cut Pro ripping/converting software. A brief instruction of how to convert DVD to FCP with this iSkysoft program:
Step1. Insert your DVD to the disc drive, open up iSkysoft DVD Ripper for Mac. Click the "Load DVD" option under the "File" menu, then choose the DVD drive from the list of option and the titles/chapters will be loaded to the program.

Step2. After loading, select the title(s) you want to convert. Then, from the output format list, choose Final Cut Pro preset as output format. And the preset also applies to Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro X.

Step3. Hit the Convert button to start conversion which will take a few minutes or hours depending on your DVDs size and computers speed. When the conversion is done, open your Final Cut Pro and drag the DVDrip file into Final Cut Pro for editing.
