How To Install A Wire Closet Organizer

With a little planning, you can transform even the most disorganized of closets into

a space that neatly and efficiently stores your pants, shirts and shoes. All it takes is a wire closet organizer and following these steps to install them.

First you want to remove everything from the closet space you want to install your wire closet organizer in. And I mean everything, including any old shelves, rods, doors, clothing, etc. And if you really want to make a change you can use this time to get rid of things you will never use again.

Next, using spackling and a putty knife fill in any dents or old shelving holes left behind. You need to let the spackling dry thoroughly before sanding the space smooth. Then you want to apply a new coat of paint to the entire space. This will really make the wire closet organizer look nice!

Then you want to mark the wall. Mark the wall 2 inches down from the ceiling, you want to make the line level where you intend to place the hanging tracks of the wire closet organizer. Holding the hanging track against the line, mark the wall for drilling.

Now to mount the tracks. Begin to install the tracks of your wire closet organizer using the drill marks made in the previous step. Spacing of the hanging tracks depends on the application. If you are planning on the wire track organizer holding a lot of weight you will want to space them closer, but otherwise 24 inches is the standard rule of thumb.

Time to install the shelves of your new wire closet organizer. After determining what intervals you will need to install at depending on what's intended to go on the shelves, going from the bottom up choose the space between the floor and the first shelf then continue on up.

When the shelves are in place you can then install a hanging rod. You simply install the hanger supports then place the rod.

Try to mount the tracks in a wall stud whenever possible for greater load bearing. And if necessary mount with toggle bolts to reinforce the hanging tracks.
