How To Install Peel And Stick Vinyl Tiles ?
A new vinyl tile floor is an inexpensive way to upgrade any room's appearance
. It is primarily used in heavy traffic and wet areas just like a bathroom. These are made out of vinyl and provide you a great and inexpensive option for your bathroom. For installing these tiles, you don't need to be an expert and one can do it without adequate knowledge about tile fixing.
Some of the tools and materials like tape measure, vinyl tiles, carpenter's square, utility knife, floor leveler compound, trowel or wide bladed putty knife, aviation or tin snips, flooring roller, box cutter, hammer and cold chisel are mandatory and required while installing the vinyl tiles in bathroom.
First step is to prepare the floor. First prepare the surface with the primer if you are laying the tiles over plywood or concrete. However, you only need to clean the surface if you are installing over linoleum tiles or sheeting.
Snap a chalk line from the midpoint of each wall to the opposite wall's midpoint. The point where these two lines intersect is the center point of the room. Lay out your first few rows of tiles by removing the backing paper. Press it gently to set the tiles.
Cut tiles with the utility knife to fit at the end of the row if necessary. Use cardboard to make patterns when fitting tiles around difficult shapes. Tools like aviation or tin snips work best in this case.
To cut around the toilet, you'll need to create a template. Use one of the paper backings to create your template. Line up the edges of the paper with the installed tile and trace around the toilet base. Cut away excess paper and make sure that it fits correctly. Once you have a good fit, lay the paper over your tile and trace. Then use your box- cutter to cut out the design.
Last step is to fill in all the gaps at the edges and seams. Add caulk to cover any gaps between the vinyl and the walls as needed. Make use of wet caulk for this. This will secure the tiles in place and provide a beautiful appearance.
You can walk on it now, but you're well advised to let the glue set up for a few days before you wash the floor.
