How To Install WordPress In Your Web Server

WordPress is the most famous blogging platform to create a website of a blog. You can install wordpress offline and you can install it online too.

Why do we need to install it online? After installation, you certainly want that your family, friends, or other people can access your site or blog in their browser via internet online.

Because of this, you need a web server to install wordpress blog. However if you prefer blogging for free, you can try wordpress.com, it is completely free and you do not need this installation article.

Step by step to install wordpress blog in your web server.

1. Visit wordpress download website, and download the latest wordpress files. It is prensented in zip format.

2. Create a new empty database in your webhost provider account.

If you are using cPanel, you can look for mySQL database wizard, and click create a database.

You will have to enter your database username and password. Use generate password button if you want to have a strong password, which is recommended to increase your blog's security.

The next step, we will have to create a new database user for our new SQL database in the step 2 above. You will be brought to a page, where you must click "enable all previleges" for this username.

After a new database user is created, go back to your cPanel, and then mySQL database. You can now add a database user to the new mySQL database we have created in step 1.

If you think you can't remember the password, write it down in a paper to use it in the next steps.

3. UPload wordpress file, it can be via FTP, or upload manually to your webserver, using "upload" cPanel button.

Now we have wordpress zip files in webserver, we have to extract it, click "extract" cPanel button, and the files will be extracted in "wordpress" folder.

If you look in your public_html folder (others may use htdocs, or www), you will see "wordpress" folder contains all wordpress files.

Open that folder, by clicking the folder name, and click "select all" cPanel button, then click "move".

Because we want to have wordpress blog in the root, so you will have to move it to your public_html root directory.

When you click "move" button, you will see "where to move" and it will show in the box, "public_html/wordpress". Delete the wordpress, so this line will be left: "public_html/". Click "Move File(s)".
