Contrary to popular belief, installing a glass splashback can be quite simple with the right materials, much easier than installing a tile splashback in your kitchen. However, you should be careful during installation because there are only one or two large pieces to install rather dozens of small tiles.

Measuring the space is the first thing you need to do. You will need toughened glass which most glass companies can supply you with. Your supplier can paint the glass in almost any color you want. But you can also do that yourself if you like. It's imperative that your measurements are as precise as possible. You will need to have holes and openings to accommodate power or wall outlets cut into the glass unlike tile which you can set around them. This must be done ahead of time. It cannot be done after the fact or during installation.

Before you order the glass, decide on your color palette. You can choose to have a solid color painted onto the glass or keep it clear. Clear glass looks slightly green, though. Then there is the option to have an image or graphic printed on the glass. You have this option because there are now new technologies that allow you to print any high-res image or graphic onto your splashback.

You can attach the glass splashback to your wall with a special adhesive. You can ask your supplier or vendor about what kind of adhesive you should use. Screws can also be used to attach the splashback to your wall to ensure a strong bond. Consider using screws carefully since you'll need to decide ahead of time if you're going to use them. Holes will need to be cut ahead of time just like with openings for wall outlets.

Some companies have come up with a DIY glass splashback package that includes everything you will need to complete this project. There are also companies that can do it for you if you don't have time to take on the project yourself. But it's important that you choose a company who has done similar projects before.
