How To Install an External Hard Drive
Nowadays everything going to the direction of high quality media and high quality mean more space; it's inevitable that you will need an extra storage device that will hold all your media. First thing you will need to do is to make sure you have all the accessories that came with the drive: usually its USB cable or power adapter, and disk that you can install the drive's software.
Now what I'm saying is going to shock people but I recommend not using the cd software, use it only if your computer doesn't recognize the drive when you plug it to the computer. All you need to do is to plug the USB cable to the pc and you're done, any respectable external hard drive company uses a "plug & play" system that you will not need to do anything. all you need to do is to plug the usb to the pc and you are ready to go.
If however your pc don recognize the drive first unplug it restart the computer and try again, usually after the restart your pc will recognize the drive and you can use it. If you plug the USB cable and your pc doesn't recognized the drive insert the cd-rom provided and install the software, its suppose to work, follow the instruction and you will be fine.
I would recommend to use only familiar hard drive companies like: western digital, Seagate, Hitachi etc... they will make sure that you will have no problem whatsoever when installing the external hard drive.
All you need to do is start using the drive in any way you want, copy media to our external drive or backing up your pc content, it's easy!
One little side not is that i would reccomend to format the hard drive in the FAT32 format because external hard drives can't run on the NTFS format because the NTFS format is operated ny an operating system so make sure you are formating the drive in the FAT32 format - you will need to right click on the drive icon and navigate to the format option and dont use fast format. you will also have the option to "check disk" when the pc is booted somake sure you use it.
I recommend putting the drives in a safe place prevent it from falling down.
