How To Keep The Children Entertained And Happy On Long Car Journeys

Many a times we feel that car is the best and most convenient mode for travel; however

, this does not mean that your kids will also think on similar lines.

Lines or cries such as "have we reach there?" must definitely be a headache for all the drivers who are parents too; however, who can blame these little kids who will enjoy activities such as running around an open field rather than seating on the back seat of the car on a long journey. You should ensure that you next long vocation or trip is not messed up because of unhappy children. You should have ways to keep your children busy and entertained during the entire long journey.

For this purpose you can use lots of traditional games and past times which are suitable for such journeys, games such as race to spot most animals, eye spy, landmark counting, etc. But, while these games and methods can really be fun and enjoyable, there is a high probability that your appetite and patience for such kind of games will go out much faster than your younger ones.

If your children are not that young, another way to keep them busy is magazines and books; this can definitely keep them quiet at the back seat. However, unfortunately this solution does not apply to all the kids out there, as there are kids who are not interested in reading or they get car sick while reading and travelling at the same time. If this is the case with your kid, than probably you can use audio book, also if you follow this remember to carry a headphone too so that it is not distracting for you while driving.

Another option that you can use is video games; however, be sure that you have lots of batteries or an adaptor for the batteries that will allow you keep charging the game from your car's batteries, or else you will have a useless game and a sulky face of your kid.

Another way to keep your children occupied is to carry a movie case and let them enjoy their favorite movie while you are travelling. This option is quite useful if you have a laptop, luxury car with TV screen in rear seat, handheld device like an iPod or a portable DVD player. This is an excellent way to keep the children occupied.

Another way could be to try and ask your kids to take a long sleep. Another way to keep them happy is by keeping their stomach filled; however, this doesn't mean filling them with all the junk food that you can think of.
