How To Keep Up With Incoming Mail: Deal with each piece of mail as soon as it comes in
. Do not let it pile up or it can quickly become an overwhelming task and important items may be overlooked. Take your mail each day and stand over a recycling bin and / or garbage can and sift through it immediately, getting rid of the junk mail first and filing and sorting the rest. For security purposes, anything that has personal information on it should always be shredded.
Make sure all bills are taken out and placed with all other unpaid bills. Some people like to mark the bills immediately with the due date and amount due on the outside of each envelope so they know at a quick glance what is due and when. If you do this, try writing this information on the very end of each envelope and sort them by due date, then set up a schedule (maybe one day each week) to pay your bills and stick to that schedule.
If you notice the same junk mail or magazines coming in the mail day after day, take the time to request that they take you off their mailing list. This will help reduce the amount of incoming mail that you will have to deal with on a daily basis and also helps to save paper, postage, time and resources.
If you make it part of your routine to deal with the incoming mail on a daily basis it becomes much easier to manage.
