How To Keep Your Mind Ageless By Kenneth Eden

Do you believe that the older you get the weaker your mental capabilities become? If so, you are amongst the great majority of mankind. However, scientific tests have shown that this is not actually the case.

A survey was done some years ago, proving that the majority of people can retain most of their mental ability well into their dotage. One test that was done in Beijing, China, was most interesting. I quote from an article by Martin Mac;" A group of Chinese scientists set out to map the effects of mental activity, like chess on the mind. In a park where a group of 50 or more retired Chinese men congregated daily to play Chinese chess, the researchers discovered that most of the men had above average mental and cognitive skills. They could hold a witty and intelligent conversations and were much less prone to depression dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

The research, spanning over five years, concluded that the mental faculties of the group of chess -- playing men showed no signs of waning as the group continued to age. In fact, their memory continued to improve!"

It seems that the grey cells of the brain do not diminish in old age as many people used to believe. That is good news!

Research has proven that the more the brain is challenged, the better it will function. On the other hand, couch potatoes, doing very little mental or physical activity will find that their brain will begin to fail progressively as they grow older.

You can train your brain by reading, mental arithmetic, by doing crossword puzzles, or playing memory games. There are countless memory training programs that can teach you how to memorise long chains of numbers, recognise hundreds of faces and names, and learn foreign languages easily.

There are many other factors involved that contribute to your maintaining good mental agility into a ripe old age. There is not however, space to go into that at this moment. That will be for another article.

In summary, it is agreed between researchers and scientists, that if you keep your mind active. Keep learning new things, you will improve your life, and the lives of others around you; your memory will improve, even as you age. Concentration will become sharper and life will become more beautiful.

To find out more about this vital subject, I recommend a training programme called the Mighty Memory System. This is real stuff for the real world.

This is a complete detailed system that will boost your brain's performance and covers everything from memory techniques to how to leverage your subconscious mind for better mental capabilities. Well worth checking out!
