Being a flea like microscopic creature, the bed bug is a nuisance. The mainly feed on human blood while humans are asleep. The reproduction cycle of these bugs is astonishing. A female can lay over two hundred and fifty eggs in under one year. These bugs must be controlled as soon as possible.

Knowing if you have bed bugs or not is the first part of the fight. Bites can not usually be felt while the victim is sleeping. In the morning, you may have irritated skin and red marks on your body. Welts can occur on the feet and ankles, as well as on the arms. If there is more than one spot on you that is irritated, you likely have an infestation.

Solutions to killing these pesky creatures are almost limitless. One solution is very simple. Just clean your sheets and your mattress with a strong detergent. Sometimes this works, but if the colony is too large, it will not kill all of the bugs.

A last resort to be used is to call an exterminator. These people will come and most likely fumigate your house if the problem is bad enough. Exterminators can be very expensive and can leave you without a home for weeks. They should only be used as a last resort.

It does not matter how small or large your problem is there will be a solution for you. There are many over the counter ways to killing these bugs. Knowing how to kill bed bugs is very important if they happen to infest your mattress.
