How To Learn Spanish Free Without The Egg On Your Face.
If you happen to be living in a Spanish-speaking community
, you are most likely finding it very easy to attempt to speak Spanish. If not, you could get the feeling that your opportunity to speak your Spanish is restricted to whatever chance you are getting to practice. As comfortable as that may be, it's now time to step out and attempt what you've learned. This way of practicing will make it feel very real, not to mention its a lot of fun.
Many people fine it easy to write a new language, with automatic spell check to keep what we write is correct, but it's another thing to listen and comprehend Spanish or attempt to speak the language after hearing what others have said. This method I took from an innovative English lecturer I had when I was first learning English; try out some anonymous phone calling (not prank calling!). This probably sounds a little out of left field, but it is a very shielded method to give speaking Spanish in real-life a go.
I know of many companies that give customers the option of choosing from Spanish or English when you call to hear information. Perhaps you recall a phone system such as this, phone that company, (this could be your power/electric company, or international calling company, as an example). When the automated voice prompts you, Para Espanol press two, do it! The absolute worst that might take place is that you will end up hanging up on a PC. At a bare-minimum attempt to hear what it says and see if you can comprehend it. You didn't? Just call back! If you are feeling unafraid, try to talk back in Spanish if you have the possibility. If you are on the back foot you could just say to them that you are learning Spanish. Using a telephone in a non-native language is not easy. You should try, as there is everythign to gain and near to nothing to lose!
A much more method to get in some listening practice is to watch one of the many Spanish speaking programs, soap operas, you can find on cable television. Set aside around forty-five minutes to listening, trying to understand some words, while watching the body language and expressions of the people speaking, so that you see and understand what is going on. You could also rent a Spanish speaking DVD. Many DVD's these days come with reversible subtitles/dubbing, so you could rent a movie you have already seen and turn on the Spanish subtitles.. If you didn't comprehend it the first time you view it, you can easily rewind and play a scene over again to try to improve your understanding of the Spanish. Try to say some of the expressions out loud. (Just be sure to be careful using them if you are not sure what they mean!) Funnily enough..I had a German friend who had never heard the original voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger, as he had only seen German dubbed movies!
The most important thing to take out of this is to do something completely new. Your Spanish learning experience should be an alive and often developing thing. Experiment and find ways to really use your increasing knowledge of Spanish in your life, and make it yours. Recall why you started to learn Spanish; Picture this in your head, and this week, make the leap of faith and try to do it. Keep up the good work and enjoy yourself. Spanish is a great way to meet people and to enhance your life.
