How To Learn To Sing High Notes With Practice
Many people have voices that are wonderful to hear
. Their singing brings beauty to any occasion and, it is obvious, they enjoy what they are doing. Some feel they are limited in range and would like to know how to learn to sing high notes. They feel there are songs that they especially like but have notes that are just too high for their voice.
1. In many cases, musical notes are re-arranged to accommodate singers with a low range. However, many feel that this causes a loss of the flavor that the composer intended to portray. For this reason a large number of these people are taking vocal lessons from professionals to develop this skill.
2. Before starting an exercise to sing high notes, a person needs to hum or lightly sing some familiar ditty. As with an athlete, it is necessary to warm up before starting to run. By doing this simple exercise, it relaxes the muscles and prepares one to use their lungs, voice box, and other muscles that are needed for any singing. Many people simply run the scale, (do, re, mi, . . .) allowing the voice range to get higher by the time it reaches the end. No practice should go more than 20 minutes a day or the voice may become strained.
3. Any singer will tell one that breathing correctly and having a good posture is very important in singing. One hears singers holding a high note for a long period of time and that is because they have pulled enough air into their diaphragm to slowly let it out with the sound they wish to voice. Learning to breathe correctly and standing straight are big steps in singing a high note.
4. Breathing is done by taking a deep breath to support the voice. Standing straight, the stomach will come up toward the chest. Then one starts to sing, again using the scales. One should never strain to the point where there is discomfort. If the throat is dry by all means, take a drink of water.
5. Singing is a matter of muscle coordination. Practice, when done a little at a time will teach these muscles to coordinate and produce the higher pitch. Singing notes that appear above the staff on a music sheet should be done slowly. The first day one should go up one note only and it should be repeated until one feels comfortable and the muscles have adjusted. Once that has been accomplished then one could go to the next note and so forth.
Singing high notes is not easy and takes a lot of time and practice. Once one learns how to control the diaphragm and coordinate the throat and other muscles concerned then the goal of singing higher notes can be reached. It must be realized that this will not be an overnight accomplishment. Some people learn this technique quickly, for others it takes a longer period of time.
