How To Live With Allergies

Living with allergies really isn't very easy

Living with allergies really isn't very easy. We often dread certain seasons, visiting certain places, or even having certain people come into our home because of our allergies. Luckily, you can live with the allergies that you have, without being in constant misery.

Start with food avoidance for certain allergy conditions. For example, if you suffer from hay fever, you should avoid wheat, nuts, chocolate, soft drinks, and milk. If you have a specific food allergy, you should avoid that food - obviously. Make sure that you drink plenty of water to flush your system, and drink non-citrus fruit juices as well. Eat plenty of vegetables, grains, poultry, and fish. A well balanced, healthy diet does wonders.

Take the right vitamins. You need vitamins C, A, B15 and E. You need Zinc and Enzymes. Fresh garlic is very beneficial as is, surprisingly, cayenne pepper. Also try Green Tea Extract, Bromelain, Selenium, Copper, Papain, Quercitin, Calcium, Magnesium, Licorice Root, and Molybdenum.

Next, move to inhalant allergies. For example, if you are allergic to certain perfumes, the odor of the perfume will affect you as well. Ask visitors not to wear perfumes when visiting. Identify any cleaning products that you use that may be affecting your allergies, and try to replace them with more friendly products. Keep a supply of antihistamines on hand at all times. Keep them at home, at the office, in your purse or bag, and even in your car. This includes oral medication as well as inhalers that you may need.

Make it a point to keep your home as clean as possible. This doesn't mean that you have to constantly clean. Instead, get rid of 'dust catchers' as much as possible. Instead of hanging curtains, use window treatments that can easily be dusted. Instead of carpeting, go with bare floors. Wash linens weekly, and wash curtains and table clothes at least once a month. If you can afford it, hire a professional cleaning service to come in to do the dirty work for you once or twice a month. Make your home an allergy safe haven.

Living with allergies doesn't have to be a full time job. There are often simple changes that can be made to avoid the effects of any allergies that you may have. The first step is always to identify what you are allergic to, and to explore the various treatment options for those allergies.
