How To Load Dishwashers The Right Way

Any person who does not recognize that dishwashers are one of the greatest time-saving

inventions of the modern era has clearly been living under a rock for the past century. Unequivocally invaluable is this potent creation of technological ingenuity. But face it it is only as useful as you make it.

If it is not loaded correctly, it is not being maximised. Worse, improperly loaded dishwashers can result in serious problems which include dishes not coming out spotless and potential damage which may be caused to the machine. With that said and without further ado, let us set ground rules for this, the most popular household chore on the planet - loading the dishwasher. First of all, it depends on the make and model but, for the most part, you must completely clear plates, bowls and other dishes of leftover food and build-up.

The machine will be able to process a negligible amount of debris but, beyond that, it does have a limited drain capacity. And be real - this is not a garbage disposal unit, so open up the garbage bin and scrape the plates. Instruct all family members to make a habit of doing this after each meal or snack. Rinsing dishes is no longer necessary for some machines, but it cannot hurt. Additionally, if food dries on or is too caked up, even the most powerful dishwashers may have a difficult time getting all the extra grime unglued, in a manner of speaking.

Foods that are notorious for being stubborn in this sense are sugar (such as that left over from a cereal bowl or coffee cup) and anything very strong and starchy. Use common sense and, if that fails, simply observe which food items your particular unit seems to have trouble with and react accordingly with your pre-rinsing regimen.

When loading, do not haphazardly throw dishes into the washer, be systematic and neat about it. If not, two problems will arise as a result of irresponsible users. One is that the dishwasher may reach maximum capacity with far less dishes in it. The second disaster is that poorly stacked dishes can block the hardware components inside the machine and prevent them from working properly. This could even damage the motor, in a worst case scenario.

Put similar types of dishes together so things will fit in better and you will make the most of the space available. Usually large plates go on the bottom rack, for instance. Finally, do not allow sharp objects like knives and forks to be placed face-up.
