High street fashion is constantly moving but with the chilly conditions throughout the UK this year
, designers have been heavily focusing on warm winter wear and women's coats have been no exception.
Various trends have proved increasingly popular with women who want to remain stylish whilst keeping warm at the same time. With the cold months set to remain until spring what will be the trends of choice for 2013?
Military - The armed services have influenced the fashion world throughout the year with many designers producing military based garments from shoulder padded jackets to waistcoats. Many of the military influenced women's winter jackets are commonly long garments often made from green tweed (resembling officers jackets), which can provide excellent warmth while being comfortable and stylish at the same time. Many catwalk models have worn ankle boots to complete the military look and this trend could remain popular over the coming frosty months.
Oriental - Far eastern intricate styles have also been a big hit this year with brightly coloured designs on bomber jackets and waist length jackets. The kimono patterns on garments have really taken off and the bomber jackets also provide warmth in colder conditions.
Leather - These coats and jackets have been around for some time but 2012 has seen a new twist with longer garments and in some cases sleeveless or short sleeve alternatives. Fresh colours such as oxblood and deep yellow have put a lively twist on the boundaries of the traditional black leather jacket. The fabric has been used in new and unexpected ways and this trend could continue in to the New Year.
Androgynous - This smart dressing trend is designed to impress with a sleek look to sharp office based fashion. With warm coats, jackets and blazers falling in to this category in a range of colour schemes, women can remain warm and cosy on those brisk winter morning walks to work while keeping the male co-workers jealous of their super sharp look.
Thick and heavy winter coats are becoming a thing of the past for women who want to express their style while keeping wrapped up. This year's trends look set to continue for a few cold months yet before the designers look at what the next big things will be.
