How To Maintain 1.8t Turbo

Since the turbo is usually under operation in high temperature and the exhaust-driven

gas turbine can reach 600 Celsius degree, there is a need to take effective measures to cool and lubricate the turbo engine. When an engine is equipped with the turbocharger, the maximum output power of the engine will be increased by nearly 40% or even more. However, when the engine applies the turbo-charging technique, the maximum gas pressure and average temperature during its working condition will be enormously increased, which will cause negative effect on the mechanism and lubricating property of the engine. In order to stabilize the operation of the engine under high mechanical load and thermal load, it's necessary to choose turbo with fine structural design and craftsmanship as well as good caloric power and made of superior material instead of just installing the turbo on the engine. The transformation of the turbo is not that easy, since the match of the engine and turbo has to be taken into consideration, which has to a larger degree restrict the exhaust-driven gas turbine applied in the engine.

1. 1.8T turbo should be avoided being under operation at idling speed for a long time. When the engine equipped with 1.8T turbo has been rotating at high speed under heavy load for a long time while not being able to be extinguished, the engine must be extinguished after being slowly rotating for at least two minutes. If the engine is extinguished immediately under operation with high heat, the pressure of the engine oil will be reduced sharply to zero. During this process, the rotor of the turbo can still be under high rotating speed due to the force of inertia, which will heat the engine oil lingering in the turbo and damage the axle. Thus, before the flameout of the engine, the temperature and rotating speed of the engine must be reduced enormously. Never speed up the accelerator before extinguishing the engine.

3. When the engine has been started, especially during the winter, it's fundamental to let the engine rotate at the idling speed so as to ensure the bearing to be fully lubricated while the turbo is under operation at very high temperature. Thus, never blindly accelerate the speed of the engine. Only in this way can ensure the perfect condition of the oil seal of the diesel turbocharger.

4. When washing the vehicle, we need to cleanse the dust or grease timely if the turbocharger has been accumulated with dust or oil grease. But be careful enough to never to wash the engine with water when the engine is under high temperature since the water splashed into the turbo will damage the engine or even make it deformed.
