How To Make A Baked Potato On A Bbq Grill

One of the most versatile foods in the world is the potato

. It can be prepared in numerous different ways. One of the most popular ways to prepare a potato is to bake it. Baked potatoes are a great addition to almost any meal. Fortunately, this doesn't have to end when the weather gets nice and you head outdoors.

Cooking on a BBQ grill is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the summer time. Many people create some fabulous meals on their grills. What some people do not realize is how good a baked potato on a BBQ grill can be. The following are some tips and ideas for preparing a baked potato on a BBQ grill.

Preparation

Making a baked potato on a BBQ grill is actually quite simple. The first thing you want to do before you prepare any food or vegetable is clean it properly. This is a good practice to get into no matter what you are cooking. Some people will wrap several potatoes up together in tinfoil and cook them that way. Unfortunately, this will result in potatoes that are dry and sort of bland. The best way to prepare a baked potato on a BBQ grill is to wrap them individually.

To make a great tasting potato, it takes more than just wrapping it up in foil and throwing it on the grill. The first thing you want to do is lay out a piece of foil that will be large enough to cover the entire potato. To make sure the end product is nice and moist, put about a tablespoon of oil on the foil. This oil will make its way around the potato while it's cooking, keeping it moist until it's ready to be eaten.

This is also the best time to add whatever seasonings you wish to add. This is where you can get really creative. Use anything and everything you want to. Just add it with the oil. Then you can wrap up your potato and get ready to cook it.

Cooking

When it's time to cook your baked potato on a BBQ grill, you can place them just about anywhere on the grill. The only thing you might want to consider is keeping away from the area of the highest heat. Other than that, just put them where they won't be in the way of your other foods. After that, just wait for about 45 minutes or an hour, and it's ready to eat. You can test it every now and then by sticking a fork into it. If it easily goes into the center of the potato, it's done.
