How To Make An Effective Email Marketing Campaign
If you or your company is attempting to create an email marketing campaign for the first time
, you will want to make sure that it is effective as possible so as not to waste any money or resources whatsoever. A lot of companies create what they think of as effective email marketing campaigns, but they would be sorely mistaken as far too many businesses make the same easy-to-avoid mistakes when developing campaigns. If you would like to stop this from happening all you need to do is ensure you follow the right lines.
One of the most important things to remember when creating a campaign is that your customers' spam filters will be the first hurdle that you will need to get over. Spam filters can unfortunately be the death of a great many well-meaning email marketing campaigns, as they can automatically divert emails to the junk folder if they look suspicious. Spam filters usually rank emails based on their content and once this rank reaches a certain point they will be sent to the junk or spam folder. To avoid this, you will need to carefully select your language and avoid words that spam filters see as suspicious, such as 'free', 'discount' and 'money off' in both the subject line and the main body of your email.
The next thing that you will need to overcome is the fact that most people simply glance at an email once they have opened it - which can be a task in itself - so you will need to grab their attention. If you have managed to get your subject line to be snappy enough for them to bother opening the email, make sure that the content is accessible and easy to read. If you are focused on getting click-thrus to your official website, ensure any links are easily recognisable - a lot of people don't notice that images are links, so use simple, underlined and bolded text as links instead.
The tone of voice that you use within your email campaign can also make a big impact. You should do your best to personalise your emails as much as possible - use each customer's name in the email greeting if possible, and try to offer them something they will want.
You should also focus on when you should send out your email communications so that you can get the best response. A lot of studies have been conducted into this and it has been found that Tuesdays and Wednesdays are best for it, as customers are often more receptive to receiving and following through with emails on these days.
