How To Make Festival Fashion Work For You by:Charlotte Bleasdale
When choosing what to take to a festival you must consider a few factors - the weather forecast
, style of music and venue type - when you've answered these questions you can decide what will be versatile enough to wear from day to night. Here are my top tips for finding the ideal women's clothes to be festival savvy.
The trick is layering
Come rain or shine, if you opt for layering you'll be prepared no matter what the weather. Vests, camis and boob tubes are great if you get lucky with the sun, and take a cardigan or hoodie to throw on if it clouds over or as the sun goes down.
Waterproofs are a must
If you're off to a festival in the UK then you can't rely on the weather to be dry, so pack something waterproof like a lightweight cagoule or mac that won't take up too much room. Forget an umbrella, it's so impractical at a festival.
Forget denim all together
Jeans aren't the best choice if it's wet as they're unpleasant to wear soggy and take ages to dry. You're best going with combats and even better ones that can be zipped off to create shorts if the sun comes out.
You'll be lost without leggings
Leggings are one of the most versatile pieces of clothes, wear with a dress, skirt or top for a girly but practical look in all weathers and keep your legs warm. You can whip them off and stash in your bag if the weather warms up.
Wellies all the way
There's so many girly wellies out there in funky patterns and colours, so you don't need to worry about looking silly or getting your feet wet. If you want a touch of glamour you can get some wedge wellies to make sure you look fabulous.
Bring out the gladiators
Pack a pair of sandals just in case the sun comes out, gladiator sandals work well as they're comfortable and secure, as well as looking fabulous with their boho chic look that's ideal for a festival.
The versatile summer scarf
A summer scarf in a floral or bold print is a practical choice - wrap it round your neck if it's chilly, tie around your waist for a hippy chic look or wind it round your head if you feel yourself burning. It would also make a nice wrap when the sun goes down.
A good quality bag
A roomy bag is a must have for any festival. Choose a strong bag that's comfortable to carry, a backpack is a practical choice, while a shoulder bag is more feminine. The latest cross body bags are a fashionable yet safe choice.
