Internet marketing is a beautiful thing. You can make money just by promoting other peoples' sites. You can work as much or as little as you want, and you can make a little side money, a full-time income, or even a fortune, it's all up to you.

The easiest way to get started is called affiliate marketing.

There are a few ways to promote affiliate offers without needing a website of your own. I'm going to share two of the most common ones here.

The first is using pay per click ads (PPC) on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, as well as some smaller ones. You can put up a text ad that appears when web surfers search for certain particular keywords that are related to the product or service that you are promoting.

You then link the ad directly to the merchant's offer page. The amount that you pay for each click will depend on certain factors, such as the keywords you chose. If you choose your keywords wisely, PPC advertising can be a very profitable method of promoting affiliate offers. Note that most, but not all, affiliate offers allow this type of promotion, so it is best to check the terms of the offer you are promoting before beginning.

Another common way to make money without your own site is "media buying". This is similar to the first method. Media buying is basically industry jargon for placing text and banner ads on other people's websites. There are some advertising networks, such as AdBrite, which follow this model.

They allow their users to choose sites where ads will appear. So you can place ads all over the internet which link back to the affiliate offer you're promoting. And when someone buys through your link, you get paid. Depending on the sites you chose to promote on, you will have several different payment options. You can choose to pay every time someone clicks your ad, or you can pay for a certain number of views (cost per impression). Or you can buy a fixed ad that will stay on the site for a pre-determined amount of time (a day, a week, a month, etc).

In addition to dealing with advertising networks, you can search for popular sites related to the offer that you are promoting. Many owners of high-traffic sites, such as discussion forums, sell advertising space for banners or text ads on their site directly.
