Follow the few steps below and start making money by writing.
1.) Prepare a list. Get together a list of issues that are important to you and that you are knowledgeable in. You can choose from hobbies that you have been interested in over the years, or your passions for food, exercise or both! You can even write about your work, if that's what you like. For example, if you are an engineer in the renewable energy industry you may want to write about how your work is helping to save the environment. If you are a proud mom, you can write about the struggles and triumphs of your days. Regardless of your area of interest there is most likely an audience out there for you.
2.) Where do you belong? Do your research by searching online or at your local convenience store on the different magazines available that tailor to your interests. Pick 2 or 3 magazines in order to start reviewing them. Go through the magazine's blueprint. Understand who is the target audience, what their article tone is like and all the while try asking yourself where you fit into this magazine? Is there a special feature you can write for that entertains your special interests?
3.) Get writing! The first couple of articles you write should be on topics that you are familiar with and have an interest for. This will minimize research time and will keep your momentum flowing. Make sure you proofread and edit your article before you send it out and asking a friend to read it won't hurt as well.
4.) Send by snail mail or e-mail. In addition to the article include a cover letter that is to the point. Briefly describe who you are and how the topic interests you. Ask the reader to kindly consider you article for publication. You can then proceed to send out the article to the targeted magazines. Your article is unique, creative and catchy so it is sure to get a positive response.
