How To Make Scented Candles

. Why not try making scented candles at home? It's a great way to save money and it helps you make stunning candles in your favorite fragrances. To top it off, the majority of the things that you need to make stunning candles are found right in your own kitchen!

You will probably be surprised at the many unique ways on how you can craft homemade scented candles. It's very possible to make beautiful candles while saving money in the long run; and this fact alone made making scented candles a very popular and lucrative business -- you can choose to put up your very own candle shop and sell affordable candles too. Working with candles as a hobby is not only fulfilling, it is profitable too!

Creating candles is not that hard for any beginner to learn. With this craft, you are only limited by your imagination! If you don't like what you first produced, you can melt the wax down and start over anytime you wish. Candles make excellent gifts, a nice complement to your home decor, and give you cool and invigorating aromas as you bathe.

Here are the simple procedures involved in candle making:

Before you begin, you have to ensure that all the materials are present. Keep in mind that the amount of wax, aroma and color that you add should be based on the amount of candles you wish to craft. To give you a good idea, a pound of wax would make about 8 candles. One wonderful tip for the essential oil is to add just a teaspoonful for every pound of wax you use. Don't think twice about experimenting! You can always play around with how many or how much ingredients you add into the wax to capture the consistency and aroma that you like

* Wick

* Candle wax

* Coloring

* Essential oil or aroma

* Thermometer (used for candy or meat)

* Double broilers

* Candle mold

You can also modify your selection of materials depending on how you want your end product to come out.

Let's start!

1. Put the wax in a small pot, then put the smaller pot in a larger one that is partially filled with water. Heat the stove to a low heat to make sure that the wax doesn't burn. Next, using your thermometer let the wax rise to about 170-180 degrees Fahrenheit. Wax burns pretty fast, so be careful not to leave it for long otherwise, it will overheat.

2. Set your candle molds in a sturdy and flat surface. But before you do, make sure that your wicks are in your work area. Remove the pot from its heat source once the wax melts, then add the dye and the essential oil. When adding the dye, its best to use a dropper as this will allow you to have better control of the shade of your candle.

3. At this point, you can freely place the wicks within the candle jar or mold. Be sure that the wick is placed in the middle of the jar. Permit approximately 3-5 minutes for the wax to harden.

4. Once the wick is set, you can immediately pour the remaining wax. Unless you are making jar candles, remove the candle from its mold once it hardens.

There you have it! Making scented candles is very simple, you can get started on this craft with little or no experience, and to top it off, it can prove to be a fulfilling and entertaining hobby. Enjoy!
