How To Make Sure You Buy The Best Car Possible

When buying a car, either from a dealership or from a private seller

, there are several points that should be noted and carried out prior to any money changing hands, all of which should ensure that you buy the best car possible.

If you have seen a car that you like and have arranged to view it, the first and foremost point that should be carried out is research on the vehicle. The internet is full of websites that can prove to be an extremely helpful resource when looking for information when you buy cars and the first thing to do is to put the make and model of your car, along with a word such as problems or fault, into a search engine and scroll through the results. For most makes and models of cars, there will be several websites which will provide you with sufficient information into what usually goes wrong with the car and therefore this can be asked or checked out when viewing the car.

Although it can be difficult if you do not have a relative or friend who is a mechanic, it is highly recommended to take a qualified mechanic with you when viewing any car, as although they may not have an in-depth knowledge of all cars, they will generally be able to check for any obvious mechanical faults to the vehicle and provide advice on whether or not you should buy cars.

When actually viewing the car, the time should be split up into three separate sections, asking relevant, appropriate and researched questions along the way.

Firstly, a thorough inspection of the bodywork of the car should take place. It does not take a time served mechanic to tell whether the bodywork of a car is in good condition or not, but it is advised to look for any signs of rust, particularly where it may not be immediately visible, such as under the wheel arches, as well as any major cracks or scratches that can either not be associated with general wear and tear and road chippings, or cannot be easily and cheaply fixed.

Secondly, the interior of the car should be inspected, not forgetting to look in the boot space. All windows and doors should be opened, electrics should be checked and any noticeable stains or tears in any fabric should be looked for.

Finally, a test drive should be carried out in an area where you can turn both left and right, as well as on a piece of road where you can legally exceed thirty miles per hour to ensure that the car runs smoothly and that there are no unwanted knocks or bumps when turning around corners and going at speed.

Should you believe that there are any problems with the car at any point of your viewing, this does not mean that the car should be completely disregarded but simply that a little more research needs to be carried out to see how much it would cost to repair and then this should be factored into the offer you make the buyer.
