How To Make Your Site Mobile Friendly In 10 Easy Steps
Cellular telephone and mobile devices have certainly seized
. More and more people are using these devices to communicate and to do business. Your traditional websites will not work well with mobile devices. So, what do you need to do to make your site mobile friendly and to catch the attention of everybody who is using mobile devices to do business? You need to make your site mobile friendly.
It's not that hard to do. I have gathered the following 10 easy steps for you to follow. If you do each of these, your site will be mobile friendly and nobody will have trouble communicating with you or collaborating you via a mobile device:
1. Keep your website simple, not flashy. A flashy website will not translate well to a mobile device. Keep things simple and stick to basic website structure.
2. Think about how your mobile customers will see your content on your site. Use a mobile device yourself to check your own site. You won't know whether your site is coming through to them or not without actually checking.
3. Keep the ads at a minimum. You might find that your ads are actually taking up too much space for mobile customers. You may prefer move them to another area. Ads do not work as well on a mobile device like they do on your website. Again, check to see what the ads look like on a mobile device.
4. There is unique coding that you might need to do so that people can view your content properly on a certain mobile platform. Your content will need to be in the best format for different mobile platforms.
5. Navigation works really well on a mobile device. Consider using more navigation for your mobile site. Use short drop-down menus. Make sure that when a customer chooses your drop-down that the specific drop-down takes them to the appropriate page. Don't add layers to your site. Take your customers right to where they need to go based on what your drop-down menu states.
6. Make your links short. If you have ever tried to send a text message, you know that at times it can be a challenge. While most people are getting really efficient sending text messages, it is still difficult to type in those long links. Don't annoy your customers. Make it a pleasant experience.
7. Put one post or set of posts on one page. This goes back to making your site as simple as possible. Keep your content organized and make it easy to read on these small mobile devices. I like to keep one post on each page.
8. Instead of having a common entry page, put your content on the first page. It is always a good idea to keep your most important and most current content first.
9. At times links just don't work properly on a mobile friendly site. A good idea would be to put your links at the end of your content. Your links may work well within your content on your regular site but they don't always work well on a mobile site. If you put your links at the end of your post or content, it makes the site easier for your customers to navigate through to them.
10. As far as navigation on your mobile site, a drop-down system or a hover navigation system works the best. These types of navigation actually save a lot of space on the particular mobile device and will make it easier for your customers to use.
Mobile devices are without a doubt the way of the future. So, don't lose customers because your website can't be viewed on these types of devices. Use these 10 steps to make your site mobile friendly. Make your site easy to use and capture every customer you can.
