First of all gather packing and moving supplies. You will need items like large moving dolly, strong rope, cleaning supplies, wrapping materials, plain papers, moving blankets, packaging tape, knife or scissors, marking pens, etc. If you have original materials and box of your refrigerator it will be excellent. Using original packing materials of refrigerator is good for extreme care of your home appliances.

Clear out contents. Remove all contents from your refrigerator including freezing items. Unplug the refrigerator and allow the freezer to defrost. Defrost the refrigerator at least 6 hours before moving it. Disconnect the icemaker if you have one. Take out all the trays, shelves, loose items, and other removable parts from the refrigerator and pack them separately in zipper plastic bags.
