How To Pick A Sea Fishing Reel
Sea fishing is much more different than freshwater fishing
. Typically, the fish are going to be much larger that you are going to be going for than their freshwater cousins. There are many different types of sea fishing reels that can be chosen from. The most basic only offer a drag setting while the more expensive and technologically advance reels are going to have multiple different settings that can be changed depending on the type of fish that are going to be angled for.
There are many considerations when choosing the reel you are going to use for your fishing trip. These considerations are where and what types of fish are going to be fishing for, your budget and your skill level. The two basic types of reels that are used in sea fishing are bait casting reels and open faced reels. Open faced reels are also commonly known as spinning reels.
Each comes in different sizes along with different features as explained earlier.
When choosing a reel, consider your budget. Not everyone can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a top of the line reel. Even those who can are not always going to know how to use them. In some cases, minimalistic is going to be the best option. All you really need is a good reel that is going to offer a good drag setting and that can hold the amount of line that you are going to need.
This is going to be explained further later in this article. The bottom line is that is it not necessary to mortgage the home in order to get a really good sea fishing reel. Stick to a budget and save up for the really nice reel you want later on. You may want to purchase more than one reel for different fishing areas and depths.
Where you are going to fish is also going to play a part in the type of reel that you are going to purchase. Fish in the ocean are located in the same areas that they are located in the lakes and rivers. Some species are going to be at the bottom, some in the middle and others are going to be closer to the top of the water or surf fish as they are more commonly called.
You are not going to need a reel that holds hundreds of yards of line if you are surf fishing. Conversely, you do not want to use a small reel that only holds a small amount of line if you are bottom fishing. After you have decided which type of fishing you are going to be doing, you can choose a reel that fits the bill or, as stated above, you can bring more than one reel to make sure you have a reel that you need at your disposal.
