How To Pimp You Old Acoustic Guitar

Ever had that feeling of wanting to strip off that acoustic guitar of yours and try to make it a little more custom-made and fashioned the way you like it

?Well, you came to the right place! It is pretty obvious that you are not the only one who desires to have their own style on the outside of their guitars and make it more "you."

Well my friend, allow me to impart with you a number of steps on how to accomplish just that!

Mainly, before you do anything else, make sure you have the following:

-Wet/dry sandpaper (320 and 1000 grit)

-Clear coat or lacquer

-Spray paint (preferred color)

-H2O

-Clean paper towels

-6 new acoustic guitar strings

Now that you have the required items, let's get down to doing it.

First, dismantle the guitar so it would be easier for you to proceed and make it brand new. Loosen your guitar strings so you can detach it from your guitar's pegheads or tuning pegs. Remove all your attached accessories that would get in the way of the reinventing. This would mean pegheads too.

Next, sand it down! What is left at this time is actually your basic guitar body. You need to strip its clear coat off by using a 320 grit sandpaper. It's best to wet the sandpaper as you sand your guitar down. Continue sanding until the acoustic guitar loses its gloss and gets its plane color. Sand all the scrapes and shine away so that the brand new paint you are going to put on your guitar will stick.

Third, it is time to now paint away. After all your sanding, it is now time to put on paint. Put light coats after another. It's actually up to you just how many coats you want but do it lightly in the beginning. You may paint it thickly on the final coat. Do not forget to place the guitar evenly flat while painting or else it'll drip down or on the sides then you might have to sand it all over again.

Fourth, for the meantime, while waiting for your paint to dry, you can start cleaning the tuning pegs and checking your guitar strings if they are broken or still in good condition.

Lastly, make your guitar shiny! When the paint has dried off on both sides of your acoustic guitar, it's now time to give the acoustic guitar a gloss. You can now put on the clear coat. You may use clear coat or lacquer, but if you prefer the quick dry one, I recommend for you to use the clear coat.

Do solid but even coats. If there are still marks on your guitar make sure to get them off before putting on the clear coat. Again, it's up to you how many coats you put on. Once you are finished on a single side, do not flip it over just yet. You can plan methods to accomplish both sides without having to place it down on the floor while waiting for the clear coat to dry. To prevent drip marks and scratches when its done, you can sand your guitar down with the 1000 grit sandpaper between coats.

Now that your paint is all completed and dry, you can now start putting back the parts you took off delicately while appreciating the brand new guitar.

Hope these simple steps helped you get that brand new cool design!
