How To Plan A Stress Free Family Picnic With The Kids
Picnics are often not considered as free summer fun with the kids because they're
viewed as being complicated, and there is never sufficient time during the weekends. I'm an advocate of simple picnics especially over summer weekdays; these are especially good when working and you have kids at home. If the weather allows it maybe good to take a short picnic break over lunch, as for dinner picnics you will need to give everyone a reason to look ahead to it.
Do you consider yourself a picnic expert? Then your views are highly appreciated. Below are some of my picnic ideas that I would like to share with you, I believe that by observing them, you will be able to plan an exciting and stress free picnic with your kids.
Rule No. 1 is Keep It Simple
Poorly planned picnic with kids can easily turn into something unexpected and complicated than initially anticipated. The golden rule to having frequent picnics with the kids is simplicity - I mean keep it simple. The success to picnic simplicity is to limit choices and have finger foods in the list. If someone requires a folk, then a plate is definitely required together with a serving spoon and all that should be in a container that you need to have at home. Simplify things and lessen the headache by just getting finger foods.
When it comes to limiting choices, prepare food that is generally liked by all and don't ask for opinions. Once you've hitched camp at the picnic site, options will be limited to what you've brought and this will mean that they eat what's available. Break this rule and you may have to bring more food to meet everyone's preference and you can guess what that means.
Picnic Foods
There is no doubt that sandwiches are a picnic staple. Preparing sandwiches to meet everyone's taste and preference can be time consuming, especially if the tastes are widely varied. In this case the best thing is to consider other types of finger food like dips, sushi, pizza, or fried chicken.
Bring along packed veges like carrots, bell peppers, celery and broccoli and also washed fruits that can be easily eaten without much preparation such as apples, grapes, oranges and pears. You can pack ready to eat packed food like crackers, cookies and chips. As for drinks get juice packs, bottled water and also hand sanitizer and trash bag.
Prepare a Picnic Basket in Advance
Having all the non-food items ready to go on a moment's notice will help you go on a picnic on, well, a moment's notice. Some days, it seems like too much work to gather all the needed items, and then prepare the food. So either buy a practical picnic set, like a picnic backpack, or put together a ready-to-go picnic bag.
Picnic Destination
Don't limit yourself to parks with playgrounds for family picnics, though they may very well be your kids' top choices. Take a picnic to the pool; have it in your own backyard; hike to a secluded spot in a state park. Check your local paper for outdoor concerts and movies, and bring a picnic to a community event. Invite friends to bring along their own picnics, and you've got a party with entertainment.
