How To Play Golf

Unlike other games, such as football, hockey, cricket and other great ball games

where you are required to hit the moving ball in a hurry, in golf; you can take all your time to strike the ball. Although a golfer has the benefit of time, only a great deal of concentration and skill will only make him a successful golfer. Just hitting a golf ball is easy, but hitting it to land on the spot you intend it to, is difficult

The game of golf is about putting the ball in the hole with a minimum number of strokes. The golf game is always played on a ground designed for this game which is called Golf Course. A golf course usually consists of a series of holes. Usually an ordinary golf course consists of 18 holes for a standard round of golf game .Some, however, only have nine holes and the course is played twice per round, while others have 27 or 36 and choose two groups of nine holes at a time for novelty and maintenance reasons.

The game of golf is kick started by striking the ball with a club from the starting point which is known as the teeing area. As this shot is a long range one, it is required that the ball be suspended on a tee before striking the ball .This type of shot is commonly called a "drive."

Shorter holes generally are initiated with "shorter" clubs. Once the ball comes to rest, the golfer strikes it again as many times as necessary using shots that are variously known as a lay-up an approach, a "pitch", or a chip, until the ball reaches the green, where he or she then putts the ball into the hole The goal of getting the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible may be impeded by obstacles such as areas of long grass called rough which both impedes advancement and makes it harder to advance the golf ball, bunkers and water hazards. In most forms of game play, each player plays his or her ball until it is holed.
