The person may feel threatened in situations that will unlikely result in harm. Unrealistic fear of certain things may send the individual into borderline hysteria. These stressful occurrences are common events for the individual and may lead to disabling side effects. Home health care professionals or family members that spend a lot of time with seniors should be aware of some of the signs and symptoms of these disorders. Physical symptoms include chest pain, headache and fatigue.

Among them are depression and anxiety. One way to prevent and control stress in senior citizens is through yoga. As a form of relaxation, yoga helps seniors to control thoughts that cause them distress. Although some of the physical movements of yoga may be difficult for those with mobility issues, the breathing and relaxation techniques can be done by almost anyone. Some recreation centers offer sessions specially designed for the elderly.
