How To Prevent Sweating And Sail Through Your Job Interview
Landing a well paying job in these days of recession is fraught with difficulties and can be extremely nerve wracking for the person concerned
. The pressure to answer questions during the job interview can result in sweating palms, face and armpits. As a result, your anxiety will increase until the point where your answers may well go off on a tangent.
This doesn't have to happen to you during your all important job interview. When you know how to prevent sweating before, during and after the interview, the job can be yours.
First prepare for the questions:
I must emphasize that sweating is often caused by feelings of anxiousness during an all important occasion, be it for a job interview or for a hot date. So the more relaxed and confident you are, the less prone you are to sweating in any part of your body. You will come out smelling like roses, too.
It is a good idea to be thoroughly prepared for your job interview which will improve your confidence.
I recommend the following actions to ensure you are well prepared:
- Research the job responsibilities, the Company and its background in question and try to anticipate possible questions during the interview
- Practice your answers to the possible questions either in front of the mirror or with a friend acting as the job interviewer.
- Concentrate on being confident in your abilities, skills and talents that can be applied to the challenges and demands of the job
You will be surprised at how confident and relaxed you will be during the job interview with the secure knowledge that you have adequately prepared for it. Your confidence and Charisma will draw the interviewers to you. They will not even know that you have a sweating problem!
Adopt lifestyle habits:
The preparation for a job interview is not all you need to think about in how to prevent sweating. You also have to adopt certain lifestyle measures to alleviate sweating, of which the following are the most effective:
- Avoid sugary, spicy and salty foods as well as caffeine and MSG-laden foods as these can cause the sympathetic nerve system to go on overdrive. You will then sweat excessively during the job interview, which will be to your detriment.
- Eat foods that can calm the sympathetic nerve system. These foods include whole grains, peas, nuts, eggs, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, oranges and watermelons, to name a few.
- Wear loose clothing that allows your skin pores to breathe. During the day of the interview itself, it is a good idea to take a cold shower, put on business attire that allows the body to breathe such as clothes made from silks, satins, wool and cotton, and also apply the right kind of antiperspirant.
Be sure that you give yourself plenty of time to get to the interview, so that you are not unnecessarily stressed worrying about if you will be on time or late.
During the interview, just be calm, cool and collected by going back to your answers and resume. You will quickly come to realize that your preparation for the job interview was well worth the effort.
