How To Reach Bhubaneswar To Puri
Puri, a temple town, is situated in the eastern part of India in the state of Odisha
. The main temple in Puri is the Puri Jagannath Temple for Hindus which is very famous. It has been believed that Puri is the resting place of Lord Vishnu. Puri attracts a lot of visitors every year by its architectural beauty and historical significance. Puris history dates back to 3rd century B.C to 17th century A.D. Situated along the coast of Bay of Bengal, Puri, has several shrines of ancient history and culture. It lies on the golden triangle which connects Bhubaneswar and Konarak in Odisha.
Puri is considered to be the abode of the Jagannath (the Lord of the Universe) and so the city is also known as Jagannath Puri. The city houses beautiful beaches and picturesque landscape. The famous Rath Yatra (Car festival), conducted every year which starts from the Puri Temple, is a famous event. This signifies the journey of Lord Krishna from Gokul to Mathura. This festival is held during the month of June. Puri can be visited any time of the year as the city experiences moderate climate.
Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Odisha, is also situated in the coastal area and on the banks of River Mahanadi. The name Bhubaneshwar means the Lord of the Universe and the city is famous for art and culture. Bhubaneswar houses 600 temples and so the city is known as the Temple City of India. On 13th April 1948, Puri was declared as the capital of Odisha. The 10 day long Ekamra Utsav in January exhibits the culture and tradition with modernity of the city of Bhubaneshwar. The climate of the city is mild and the best time to visit the Bhubaneswar is from October to March.
Puri does not have an airport. Bhubaneswar is situated 56 km from Puri and the best way to travel from Bhubaneswar to Puri is by rail or by road. There are 5 trains pass through Puri from Bhubaneswar. Express and superfast trains like B Nath Sham Express, Ghy Puri Express, Dbg Puri Express, Srijagannath Express and Purushottam Express connect the two cities.
Bus is also a good option as it is comfortable and cheaper for the travel for such a short distance from Bhubaneswar to Puri within one and a half hour. Private and Odisha Road Transport Corporation buses charge Rs. 25/- to Rs. 150/-. They are reliable as well as frequent.
Taxis charge Rs. 2200/- to reach Puri from Bhubaneswar for four people in small vehicle. For seven people it costs Rs. 3000/- in big vehicle.
If you have your own vehicle it takes approximately 50 minutes to cover the 56 km distance from Bhubaneswar to Puri.
