The distance between Bangalore to Munnar is just about 750 km. Munnar is a renowned hill station in Kerala. To reach Munnar from Bangalore, you will have to take a flight to Kochi from Bangalore at first and then go to Munnar by bus or cab. Munnar is nearly 125 km from Kochi. Taxi services are available from the Kochi Airport (also known as Nedumbassery). The cabs might charge around Rs. 3000 to reach Munnar.

If you choose to go by train from Bangalore, you will have to get off at Aluva which is 110 km from Munnar. You can also get down at Ernakulam which is 125 km from the hill station. A number of express and superfast trains pass through Aluva and Ernakulam. Both state transport and private buses along with cabs are available from Aluva as well as Ernakulam to reach Munnar.

The drive by car from Kochi to Munnar will take approximately 4 hours. Even though the National Highway road (NH 49) is smooth, it is also narrow, wavy and twisty. Just about 80 km away from Munnar, there is a town named Kothamangalam. The drive between Kothamangalam and the next big town Adimali is all the way through a natural forest. You can find several waterfalls on the way. Although Munnar is only 30 km away from Adimali, it will take about an hour to reach the hill town as the journey will be mostly through serpentine Ghat roads.


You can also go from Bangalore to Munnar via Coimbatore. For that, you have to reach Coimbatore by flight or train and then travel to Munnar through road. Munnar is just about 160 km from Coimbatore. The road journey from Coimbatore is through Pollachi, Udumalpet, Chinnar and Marayoor and will be a memorable experience.

Former summer resort of British, Munnar has lots of tourist spots like waterfalls, tea plantations, water streams and national parks. The main tourist destinations include Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Lake and Chinnakanal and Atukkad Waterfalls. Another attraction of Munnar is the unique blue flower Neelakurinji which blooms only once in 12 years. The best time to visit Munnar is between August to March. The summer season is also pleasant here. All kinds of accommodation including luxury, mid-range and budget hotels are available in Munnar.
