, is a city and a municipality of Jamnagar district in the Gujarat state in India. Dwarka, also known as Dwarawati in Sanskrit literature is rated as one of the seven most ancient cities in the country. The renowned city of Dwarka was the dwelling place of Lord Krishna. Original Dwarka was believed to have sunken in the sea. Divers are searching for more evidence to this claim even at present.
The major tourist attractions here are Nageshwar Temple, Bet Dwarka, Hanuman Mandir, Rukmini Mandir, Siddeshwar Mahadev, Bhadrakali temple, Bhadkeshwar temple. The city had around 700,000 palaces made of gold, silver and other precious stones. Each one of Lord Krishna's wife had her own palace. In addition, the city had beautiful and enormous gardens filled with flowers of all seasons and beautiful lakes.
Ahmedabad, also known as Amdavad, is the largest city and previous capital of the Indian state of Gujarat. The city is an executive hub of Ahmedabad district as well as the judicial capital of Gujarat, as the Gujarat High Court is located in Ahmedabad. The erstwhile city of Karnavati was renamed as Ahmedabad (but real name is Ahmed-Aabad) on 26 February 1411 by Sultan Ahmed Shah to serve as the capital of the Gujarat Sultanate, and was named after him. Ahmedabad witnessed the non-violent movement for India's independence, being a host to the Sabarmati ashram of Mahatma Gandhi.
The tourist hotspots of the city are Gandhi Aashram, Sidi Sayed Mosque, Bhadra Fort, Heritage Houses of poles, Akshardham Temple, Vaishnodevi Temple, International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple, Amar dham, Kamla Nehru Zoo, Calico Textile Museum, and Law Garden, Juma Masjid, Jhulta Minara, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum, Swaminarayan Gurukul, Veechar Utensil Museum, Auto World Vintage Car Museum etc.
The distance between Dwarka and Ahmedabad is about 450 km. The most affordable way of travel would be through railways, even though travel by car would be more comfortable. The nearest Railway Station, Okha Railway station is at about 28 km from Dwarka. The nearest airport is Jamnagar which is 121 km from Dwarka. Ahmedabad is well connected domestically as well as internationally through daily flights.
There are innumerable buses, including normal and luxury class, from Dwarka to Ahmedabad. One can choose either government run or private buses. The private run buses, though costlier, are highly recommended to those in need of luxury and comfort as these are usually very comfortable to travel in. Taxis are also available but they tend to be costly and will cost to the upwards of INR 6000/-. Hiring taxi is suggested to travelers on a splurge budget or when travelling with family consisting of children or elders.
