Shirdi, a small town situated in the district of Ahmednagar in the state of Maharashtra, is a famous pilgrim center. Shirdi was the home of the famous 20th century saint, Sai Baba. He entered in the village at the age of 16 and lived here for 50 years. Sai Baba is believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva. He lived his entire life for the poor and needy. This place is visited by many devotees from all over the world.

Sai Baba died in the year 1918 and a temple is built there. The government is planning for the development of the village for the 100th anniversary of Sai Baba in 2018. The Shirdi Temple complex covers an area of 200 sq m and consists of Gurusthan, Khandoba, Samadhi Mandir, Chavadi and Dwarkamai.
