How To Replace The Cd Or Dvd Drive Of Your Hp Notebook

Here is a guide that shows the steps, needed to be performed for the replacement of CD or DVD drive of your HP notebook. These steps are for HP Pavilion DV5000 Notebook PC series. Thus, if the CD or DVD drive of your HP notebook stops functioning or you want to upgrade it and add a new model that has faster burning speed, then just follow the steps mentioned below.

However, upgrading and replacing parts of a notebook are considered difficult, but replacing a CD or DVD drive is the easiest one. Doing this does not involves disassembling of other notebook parts except removing a single screw.

Step: 1

Turn your notebook off and then disconnect the AC adapter.

Step: 2

Remove all other cables i.e. the modem and network cables and detach peripheral devices.

Step: 3

Turn your notebook to its opposite side i.e. turn it in a way that its bottom side is in the front direction.

Step: 4

To remove the battery, first you will have to slide the battery release latch, so that the battery is released from its place and then lift the battery from its front side and take it out from the battery bay.

Step: 5

Right above the battery bay on the right side, you will see a Philips- head screw, which holds the optical drive. Remove that screw.

Step: 6

Now take the optical drive i.e. the CD or DVD drive out of the base enclosure, simply by using your fingers.

Step: 7

Take the new optical drive i.e. the CD or DVD drive and insert it inside the optical drive bay in the same way, as the previous one was placed.

Step: 8

Take the screw, which you had removed before, check step number 5 and fix it in its place.

Step: 9

Attach the battery to the notebook and connect other cables and peripheral devices, which you had disconnected.

You are finally done with the replacement of CD or DVD drive of your HP notebook that belongs to DV5000 Notebook PC series.
