This way, the wearer only needs to replace the damaged half and can reuse the other half. This can end up saving thousands of dollars every year, but keep in mind that it depends on the job being performed. If it involves particulate matter or dangerous gasses, it might still be wise to use a one-piece suit to ensure these substances can't make contact with the skin.
