How To Select The Best Golf Bag
Are you looking to get a new golf bag or simply to replace your existing one
? Believe it or not but your frequency of play will determine whether your bag is an essential piece of golf gear. Why? Because, it's an important equipment for storing and transporting your golf clubs amongst other stuff.
Using the standard golf bag as a basis, most if not all your clubs, markers, tees and essential equipment can be contained during your round. Although there's currently no direct relationship between your score versus the bag you use, it is generally believed that with a spacious bag, you can carry more stuff that will in turn make your golf experience more enjoyable and comfortable. After all, who wants to scuffle around their bag, trying to find the suitable golf club to use when engaging in competitive play during a tournament or roughing it out with friends on leisure trip?
There are a few pointers to look at when scouring for the right golf bag. Let's go through some of them below :
(1) Type of Bag
There are 2 main type of golf bags and whichever you choose really depends on how you play the game. If you tend to walk while on the round, a carry bag would be more suitable. Such bags are made with lighter materials and generally more comfortable to lug around. That said, their functionality are not compromised at all. A standard carry bag can hold a full set of golf clubs (14), golf laser range finder, tees, golf balls, umbrella etc. In some cases, these bags even have room for a pair of golf shoes or rain suit!
For those who prefers riding on a golf cart, the cart bag will be a better choice as they special features to strap them to the back of the golf cart.
(2) Material
This is probably not so much of a choice because your decision whether to get the carry or cart bag will determine the answer. Why? As mentioned earlier, carry bags are generally made of lighter materials such as nylon whereas cart bags tend to be manufactured using leather. Although the cart bag is made of a much heavier material like leather, the extra weight is less likely of an issue since you wouldn't be lugging the bag around like in the case of a cart bag.
(3) Compartments
Most, if not all of the bags, be they carry or cart bags, come equipped with a large compartment for storing peripherials such as your rain outfit - the rain jacket, pants. Pockets are also included for accessories such as golf tees, balls, permanent markets or ball markets. Some of the latest designs even have insulated compartments for holding your water bottle or cool Gatorade bottle as you play and practice!
(4) Rain Hood
What happens if it rains? Well, fear not. Other than having compartments to store your rain proof outfits, some of these bags have hoods to cover the bag itself so that you don't really have to worry about your stuff. Be sure to familiarize yourself with it so that you know how the hood gets attached. Although it may sound easy, it's often something we tend to neglect until the very moment when it's required. So do ensure you do your due diligence!
(5) Warranty
Most bags comes with a warranty but you might want to just doublecheck that the brand you're getting has it. Nothing can be worse to know that your bag is not covered under warranty when you get a rip within just 1 month of purchase!
