How To Setup A Domain - The Basics

It is imperative that you know how to setup a domain as it will be the backbone of

your website and should sum up everything your website or business has to offer in one or two words. Much advice has been given and views have been shared, but the question remains, what does it take to setup a domain, which will have the potential to actually make you money online?

If you got the knack and know how to setup a domain, you would know it is a simple process which starts out by choosing a name and registering that name with a domain name registrar. Many people have made some decent money that way. Many companies who have been trading for sometime will use their company name as their domain name, that way they will be developing their Trademark. Here is a simple process showing you how to setup a domain (bearing in mind, you would require web hosting as well):

* Use your search engine a search for Domain Registrars. You should be presented within tons of Registrar"s which would want your business. Do some research to find out which companies" offers the best value for money. Once you have established your desired Registrar, go ahead an open an account with them (it should be free). It is required of you to have an account with them in order for you to register a domain.

* Type in your desired Domain Name. It is always best to seek an extension ending with .com, although it is not entirely necessary. Once you have done this, click the search button. It will state whether your domain is available and at most times if it is not available, you will be presented with a list of alternatives.

* Once all goes well in step 2 and you are happy with the name, go ahead and purchase it. You will have to choose the activation period and whether you would want to include services such as Web Hosting. I will be covering Web Hosting in another article, so for now just complete the domain registering.

* It should not take longer than 1 day for the Registrar to process your domain name. You can check your Domain Name Manager (on site) on an intermittently basis to check the status of your processing.

Again, these are basic steps which show anyone how to setup a domain. Once you have completed the process successfully, the next phase would be to implement a hosting platform.
