The economy in 2010 is not what it used to be. Previous years in the United States sparked optimism and hope - people were willing to take risks and had dreams of finding their own project payday.

That willingness to go for the Project Payday is almost gone today. People are so afraid of losing their current job, that they couldn't possibly dream of leaving it, even for a chance of something better.

While it is true that everyone these days is doing poorly, eventually this bad period will pass and people will be ready to spend their money again. And when that happens, the people that went for their project payday dreams will be rewarded.

Closing businesses should make us feel bad. But the world of business is progressive. When one place closes, another replaces it. And if you're willing, the next one that opens might be owned by you.

If there was something that you had always wanted to do, but didn't have the guts for it, this might be the time. You could be part of the solution, instead of the problem.

Tax credits are currently available for people owning small businesses, even more so for hiring employees. That would be a great benefit to someone looking to open a business right now.

Consider that in previous years, to go after your project payday meant to leave behind other things. But if you have already lost your job, what are you waiting for?

Maybe you worry that you don't have it in you to go after your project payday. It is a risk that takes strength and bravery, true. But you might be up for it.

Remember that into every life a little rain must fall. So there's a lot of money to be made by getting out there and selling umbrellas.
