How To Shop Online Effectively For Your Next Vehicle.
I assume I caught your attention with the title; you probably never thought online shopping for cars should be ever complicated
. I bet you probably assumed certain ideas in your mind already and truly believe in them, you wouldn't even question the process will get you the better deal. What ever your approach is, it is important to stand back and look at the problem from the seller's perspective as well. Understanding this cyberspace dance can really show you a better solution, and may teach you something new in the process. For one, I have been the web administrator for an automotive dealership for the past 8 years the worst thing you can do as a customer is to send mass emails to all your local dealer groups, and show the carbon copy in the email recipient list. There is nothing attractive or motivating for anyone to sell you a car in that email. The basic translation of that idea is: "hey I am emailing 20 people in one shot because I am lazy, but I don't care if you see it, you may get the idea you are not needed, and above all I just want your best price, and I will compare it 19 times. I will most likely not to buy from any of you on this list, I am a horrible human being have absolute no concept of how important time is to others. So note to web consumers, please don't threaten anyone with the potential three dollars they can make in cyberspace from you. You seem like nothing but problems, and will most likely complaint about all the other processes we are going to go through if you did buy from me. It is almost better not to sell a car to you at all, just so I can avoid you.
I hope I didn't sound harsh in the earlier paragraph, but in today's world that is just what we called a "cyberspace tire kicker". Moving on to our next approach to getting a better deal in cyberspace. If you are communicating with a dealer via email, you probably should be aware of this. Don't use your address as a bargaining tool; it will not work at all. Imagine you are sending an email to inquiring about a Honda Civic to your local Honda dealer. You purposely make a note of how far you are, and therefore need the best price so they can win your business. This is not in any way an incentive to the dealers, they all know what will really happen, so showing you live far just means you will get a full price quote back, or no response at all. The better approach would be for you to fool the dealer into thinking you live quite close, that way they will have to be competitive due to the fact they may have a shot at your business, and there are 17 other dealers within your reach. Further more, you should avoid asking for a price discount right from the get go, let the email communication happen 4-5 times for you guys to build trust.
Asking for a discount from the first email will come across as a desperate and lazy attempt on your part. So the next time you are shopping for a car online, remember the most important thing for you to get a deal is to build some kind of trust with your seller, and make him want to offer you a deal rather than forcing something from him.
