Esthers Follies

Although attending a conference for work is a break from the norm and the usual tasks associated with your daily grind, there is still a level of stress that comes along with any work-related activity. After a long day of workshops, speakers, and sessions, treat yourself to an evening of laughter at Austins famous comedy club, Esthers Follies. The shows at Esthers are always changing, but you can count on an evening of entertainment with anything from musical comedy theater, Vaudville-style shows, magic, or improvisational comedy.

Bars and Restaurants

If you are looking for an opportunity to have a few drinks, unwind with coworkers who may have traveled with you, or get to know fellow conference attendees, an evening of dinner and drinks may be in order. Austin is famous for the bars and clubs on 6th Street. This particular area is a staple in Austin nightlife and is filled with bars, restaurants, and music clubs. 6th Street is known for coming alive at night and there is no shortage of excitement. But if a low-key social atmosphere is your preferred atmosphere, head just a few blocks over to 4th Street, also known as The Warehouse District. Here you will find several upscale bars geared toward Austins elite, and is a great place to network while still sitting back and relaxing with a drink after a long day.

Congress Avenue Bats

For a particularly unique experience while in Austin during the summer months, be sure to check out the Congress Avenue bats. Every year from March through September, nearly 2 million Mexican bats flock to Austin and camp out under the Congress Avenue Bridge. Each summer at dusk, the bats emerge for dinner. Though highly unusual and even a bit creepy, it is truly a sight to behold and one that is not to be missed.

As you make your plans to travel to Austin, be sure to book your hotel near the Austin convention center, even if your conference is in a different location.
