Keep in mind that if this is your first garden, it is best to start small because they can be a lot of work, especially if you have never planted one before. Once you find the area, you will need to remove the grass from that area and begin to get the soil set up to put plants in. It is important to put a layer of compost onto the area so the ground is certain to have all of the nutrients that it will need when it is time to plant.

Once you have your area all set up, it is time to start thinking about how you are going to water your plants. Some regions have plenty of rain, so you can allow the rain to do most of the watering for you. If you live in an area that does not get much rain, you will need to decide if you are going to utilize an irrigation system, or if you are going to water them using a hose each day.
