This type of behavior can be frustrating as well as embarrassing. Dogs can use many types of aggression to communicate themselves. All dogs are born with some form of dominance. While inheritance does play a part in in dominance, how you treat the animal, his environment and breed all affect his personality. Puppies rarely show any kind of aggression unless they have been unduly frightened

Dog aggression is simply the way a dog communicates his personality, mood and status. The best known way to control dog aggression is by obedience training. This type of training is the best way to let him know that you are the "top dog." Once you know how to obedience train your dog, it will become obvious to you how to stop dog aggression.

A lot of people know what they have to do, but lack the confidence and knowledge to move forward. They are often exhausted by their dogs behavior, and a lot even give up. The first step to correcting your dog's problem is to admit that there is one. It takes courage however, by accepting responsibility and trying to correct the issue, your dog will learn who is in control, and you will have a well behaved dog, which is what we all want to have.

Training your dog to a high standard not only puts you in control, but makes your dog more confident. You can use obedience training to prevent the first signs of aggressive behavior which will distract your dog's attention from the other person or dog. By distracting your dog, you will cool down the situation before it has a chance to get out of hand.

If you choose to obedience train you dog yourself, keep in mind, that it will be stressful for awhile, however in order to have that well behaved dog that you long to have, you must keep it up and stay consistent with your efforts.
