How To Submit Articles: What Should An Article Look Like
?
If you are a complete newbie and are trying to learn how to submit articles, you can learn a lot just by browsing around an article directory. Many times just seeing the types of content that directories have accepted for publication can help you in creating your own content. Everyone has their preferred way of learning, and in this article I'd like to take you by the hand and walk you through what a free reprint article should look like. Here are the common parts of an article:1 - The title: Your title should be descriptive of what your article is about. The title is an excellent place for your keywords, but be sure that the title reads naturally and is still appealing to human readers. 2 - The author name:Many sites also publish the author name above the article by the title, but be aware that not all sites include an author name. For this reason, I suggest that you include your name in your resource box, if it's important to you to have your name associated with your article. 3 - The article body: *The article should be educational, rather than sales oriented. Don't try to promote your business, website, products or services in the article body. The place for that is the resource box, which we'll cover later. *Your topic should be related to the topic of your website. *It's a good idea not to include any links or URLs in the article body, as many publishers don't like them (they are already linking out via the resource box). *The article should be about 400-800 words. Some directories accept articles that are much longer, but articles over 800 words will limit the scope of publishers interested in your article. For example, ezine publishers need articles of specific lengths in order to fit in their emails. *Also, be sure to proofread your article several times before submitting it. Your article needs to be free of spelling issues and be easy to read.I once did a survey of a group of readers and asked them what they considered to be "excellent content", and the results may help you in creating your own content. These were the things they said marked a top-notch article:*Short and to the point (Not too short though--the article has to be long enough to convey useful info! Stick to no fewer than 400 words.)*Contains bullet points or a numbered list. You'd be surprised at how much the formatting of your article plays a part in how readers perceive it. Bullet points and numbered lists help the reader easily navigate your article. They just make reading easier, and people appreciate that. *New information that improves the reader's life. This would not be the same rehashed info that you are seeing all over the internet--readers appreciate a unique point of view, new ideas, new tips, and an article that has the agenda of helping improve the reader's life in some way. 4 - The resource box: The most important part of any article submission for the author is the resource box, so take your time in crafting it. Include your name, a bio that conveys why you should be regarded as an authority on your topic, a reason to visit your website (perhaps a free e-book, a newsletter, etc), and of course a link to your website. The link to your website will ideally be formed by text that describes the topic of your website (aka, your keywords). Learning how to submit articles is not hard, but it does take some care and attention. Focus on the points in this article, and you'll create an article that you're proud to call your own!
